Kalaimamani Sri T.R.Sundaresan found Sannidi Gurukulam in the year 2013. A virtual layam school that values tradition and focuses on systematic training of Carnatic Mridangam and Konnakol. Tradition has always been an integral part of value to Sri T.R.Sundaresan as he himself acquired his training in the traditional gurukula system. A purist at heart he believes in the perfect balance of Layam. The establishment of this school was also based on his observation of how people around the world carved for an in-depth understanding of the nuances of layam. T.R.Sundaresan a third generation descendent of Sri Palghat Mani Iyer school believes Mridanga Layam is a conversation between the 2 sides (edam thalai and valam thalai) of the instrument.
